read the post for Christ sakes, the Stones don't play festivals, the Arctic Monkeys do. I know how much they gross, it has nothing to do with headliners at Reading. Keep up |

Mick Jagger and the boys wouldnt get out of bed for 9 million. The Stones "Bigger Band " tour grossed over 500.000.000 dollars.

This was 2005/06/07.
The tours total gross made it the highest grossing tour ever.

Of course if ABBA were to reform tomorrow i think the record books would have to be rewritten just a little. The earnings from that one would make the Rolling Sones look like the Arctic Monkeys.
By the way you can get string for a quid at Poundland. |

thanks for that detailed and informative post Giles, what's next? the pice of string?
Christ, if you don't know the answer, shut up.
£250k is the answer, rising to £9,000,000 for the big boys. |

A lot more than they are worth!!
Suppose its also possible the fee may be smaller than you think as its possible that the bands record company may pay huge fees to the festival organisers to get them on the bill. This was the case with support acts some years back and is probably still so today. Bands like The Rolling Stones and The Police can name their price. Im inclined to think that the Arctic Monkeys are not yet anywhere near that league. It all depends on whether their agent is any good i suppose. |
