david Jane Birkin may not be great at singing but she is a great singer, or should I say interpreter.

I have seen her many times live- the Arabesque tour where she performed Serge Gainsbourg's songs with North African musicians was a master stroke- his melodies with her fragile voice sounded so good set to a non-European backing.

She ain't the world's best singer, but she knows how to win over an audience.

Look up her new live album "au palace" on spotify.

here she is singing Gainsbourg's "Elisa" on Japanese tv with her north african band.
