But JK is right.
I think X FACTOR is the only real place where music is being created - and perhaps the BRIT school. Get into either and you have a small chance of major label success. Outside of these two there is no chance of big success. That is the reality - and many new bands and unsigned acts realise this.
Actually, Record Mirror merged into Music Week. Sounds just closed when United Newspapers sold most of it's Music Magazine interests to EMAP |

My favourite music magazine was Record Mirror, although I can't remember it's actual demise. |

The Observer Music Monthly closed after 76 issues and sadly nobody noticed.
Because it contributed nothing to music. Rather like those TV shows... The Roxy? The Word? The Tube? Lots of press, no viewers, no impact on music.
Does the NME do anything these days? Nope.
Does the Record of the Day or Drowned In Sound contribute to music? No.
Sadly, neither does The Tipsheet any longer.
We need a major break through and I intend to do it. |
