Our Record of the Year Poker Face lost out to Use Somebody from Kings of Leon - a decent winner and Poker Face did win best dance single (??). I actually prefer Use Somebody though Poker Face was surely more crossover popular. Good for Beyonce - her If I Were A Boy is one of my personal favourites of the decade along with Rihanna's Take A Bow.
IMO Poker Face isn't a good song. The first few times I heard it I thought nothing of it, the chorus isn't that strong and the song as a whole doesn't flow that well, it's very restricted in movement too as if it's been written around a 4 bar loop in it's entirety.

Quite often I hear what I consider to be an average pop song stripped back and realise it's actually very complex, the producer has been clever enough to make it sound otherwise.

I fear with Poker Face and many other songs around at the moment that this is actually in reverse, the production is masking a turd.

Have a listen to an acoustic version of Poker Face with the link below. IMO it doesn't work well at all.
