JK2006 Incidentally there is an inverse ratio between the amount of exposure The Sun uses to say "every penny goes to the poor, suffering people of Haiti" and the benefit their circulation, reputation for kindness and generosity and boost in salesgets from their noble "campaign".

I was there during Live Aid, Band Aid, Ferry Aid and all the other awful crusades.

I was astonished by the cynicism of those involved. But most of the staff on the paper agreed with me and were delighted when I slagged off the projects!
Emma Bee Who's the first girl singer who sucks in her breath between each line? A bad choice for an opener. They need someone with better breathing control.

What made them choose this dreary song? Or is it just a case of anything goes so long as it's for charity?
Bobbie Honk I love the original, this makes me want to hurl repeatedly and then feel guilty for doing so.

Got as far as the obligatory OTT Mariah Carey part. At first I thought the "go" on the line "don't let yourself go" sounded like someone seriously f**king with auto-tune, then I remembered that's what she sounds like normally.

Simon should stick to being "Mr Smug & Nasty but Apparently a Really Nice Bloke" and steer clear of sh1t like this, it'll ruin him. Pledging 1% of Syco's profits for a month would have been a better move.
The Cat I have the same feelings about this song as I do about "Tears in Heaven". "Everybody Hurts" is a miserable and drab song unless done by REM, likewise "Tears in Heaven" should only be done by Eric Clapton.

Why couldn't a more uplifting song of hope have been chosen. If the people of Haiti here this song they'll feel even more depressed.

And Simon must know some good songwriters who are capable of producing something new for the occasion. All Live Aid songs were originals.
JK2006 I loved the REM original (big REM fan) but hate multi vocal tracks anyway and loathe designer charities. At least Bob made some decent punk hits before finding God (fame through good works).
