Interesting post, and of course you are right JK, about the the bad A&R;of course, bad A&R is endemic across the industry. There are all too few Jim Chancellors, Simon Gavins and indeed Laurence Bells..
Chris Briggs is off to Sony and for all we know Nick Gatfield may follow him there eventually.
One Direction look nailed on to win the competition and much like JLS could have have a successful couple of years. Need a great first single, though.
One quibble; Simon, and your chum Richard Griffiths, manage the acts. |

I gather the plummet from 6-20 and total lack of genuine sales means poor little Joe is destined to join the other X Factor winners on the Steve Brookstein/Shane Thingy/Michelle McDonalds tour of four seaters.
Which is appalling. Simon's total lack of A&R (and I like Nick Raymonde personally but he's no Ivor) is ruining lives.
And Sonny, who found Bleeding Love for Leona but who has found nothing since, is looking uncomfortable.
George Samson anyone?
The X Factor and Britain's Got No Talent is starting to become a musical poisoned chalice even as the TV ratings soar.
More freaks; fewer real singers.
Who will be the first to sue Simon for bad management? |
