I’m with you on that. But, I believe as much, if not more, great music is being created now as ever before. The problem is exposure. That, in my opinion, is a nut that we should attempt to crack. (The piracy issue has been widely debated. I’m not ignoring it, I just haven’t got an answer so looking at solving problems that I think, we on this board, might be able to find solutions to!). WE really need to get music back on TV. Richard Desmond wants to re-launch TOTP on Channel 5. If the BBC won’t let him have the brand, could someone not propose an alternative to him? I liked your old idea JK, of having a record shop where bands dropped by, and created the “reality effect” yet creating a cutting edge TV show at the same time.
I still think a chart-driven TV show is the answer. With the charts now out of the direct control of the majors, (thanks to I-Tunes etc.,), it should be possible to get a great music show based on sales of both singles and albums. (Though I think singles are dead - it’s songs that people buy!).
Any TV people on this board? |

Let's DO something about the awful state of music instead of just whining about it. |
