GG Not if they sign an act developed by them that can become a sustainable superstar. One that doesn't come from television.

I believe they could do it.
Bunk Morland Well the whisperings in the dark recesses of the business are full of the troubles at Sony UK. Nick Gatfield goes from the Titanic to the Lusitania, methinks....
A Talent I wouldn't go as far as saying the industry is that dire and bereft of talent. Look what happened with American Idol when Simon Cowell left it - the standard of contestants has shot right up.

SC might be very articulate, and sound like he really knows what he's talking about but I think he ruins the winners by turning them into Xmas No. 1, pappy, fluffy, white and sugary acts.
JK2006 Hmm - to me it's all changing deck chairs on the Titanic - the only difference is I bet the orchestra was better on the ship.
Bunk Morland With Nick Gatfield shortly to arrive, and to be re-united with Chris Briggs, the Sony Big Cheeses must be looking for a new direction with the company's global A&R with particular emphasis on what is signed in the UK.
Nick should thrive at UMI and it is interesting to note their focus is now on entrepreneurs , like Simon Gavin , Colin Barlow and Jim Chancellor to name three who are magnets for talent. And are attracting it.
