1976. I think.

Ah, but attached with what? Insulating tape would produce a vastly different effect from, say, nails or having it welded on.

I'm going to stop there. Thank me. Do it now.

Agreed, but this probably has as much to do with the age of the posters than anything else. I haven't bought any singles or albums for over a year, since I got spotify. When I was 15 or 16, I used to collect every single on 7" and 12" of around 5 or 6 groups that I liked (Human League, Abc, Japan etc). I severely doubt whether there are any kids around these days with the same level of dedication.

With free videos on youtube kids just don't feel like getting conned by the thieving record companies anymore.
Pulling the Wool... I bet there's hardly anyone - bar a few accountants - who really understands the mechanics of where the money comes from and then ends-up in the music biz.

What about you Kenneth? Have you ever forensically studied those PRS, PPL or record label accounts and really got your head around it? I would guess there's a great deal of implicit trust floating around? It's a bit like PAYE - who really questions the deductions made on their behalf by their employer on their pay slip?
Chris Retro Florence & The Machine have some qualities, but I realised it was mainly hype when their cover of a remix of a remix of a remix of a mid-80s Gospel-lite tune by Candi Staton won"Song Of The Year" a couple of years ago.
