Topic History of: So what are you getting out of the Alex Day success JK? Max. showing the last 5 posts - (Last post first)

For a start - I'm not 100% responsible - Alex is 100% responsible; I just helped, advised and encouraged with ideas and contacts.
What do I get out of it? A HUGE amount.
Satisfaction.
Good karma.
Love and affection.
The same as I "got out of" playing Jimi Hendrix Hey Joe by The Leaves; tipping No Tomorrow by Orson; many - if not most - of my contributions to the industry have been helping hits turn into hits, to no personal financial benefit whatsoever. For 46 years.
But friendship also has benefits apart from the obvious personal ones. Alex, Charlie, Ed and Tommy adored Me Me Me and mentioned it to many friends, helping spread the word and getting it many of the views and interests. Indeed, Charlie was my original Johnny Bambino and Tommy was to be Jay Fratello.
I loved Forever Yours and encouraged Alex to release it and promote it. I told him how to do so. Hugely satisfying to watch it enter the National Top 5 and charts all over the world (Sweden, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, USA...).
Who needs financial incitement when you have satisfaction, karma, love and affection?
And naturally in the past I've done pretty well financially from projects like Genesis, 10cc, Abba, The Rocky Horror Show... All of whom I think enjoyed as well as benefitted from my involvement.
In fact I just got a huge cheque from the PPL for performances of my own work (Everyone's Gone To The Moon still gets played everywhere, as do Una Paloma Blanca and many others). So I don't need to earn from my efforts. |
