andrew Why can't people enjoy music by GG without criticism okay he may be a nonce but he made great songs that's also nostalgic. People don't want to remember when they had posters, signed photos, records and going to is gigs but they they did. no need to be shamed on that he was great showman and the Rainbow gig is spectacular.

Pete Townshend is a strange episode he used a credit card to access child porn just to see what was there erm what do you think will be there Pete ? He wrote a short story about a fantasy of a 15 year old which had to be taken down. He escaped jail by admitting what he done to the police and also signed the register but still The Who are on all the time and shown in the archives on BBC4.

Very odd the BBC are.

We never hear from GG son think he could give us his thought and insight.
Chris Retro Cop a load of this TOTP Chart Rundown!
dixie [ul]I "Freeview Plus" TOTP each Thursday, but for some reason I didn't get the late night repeat, so I missed Gary Glitter's performance. But, he's on the show again next week (9th Feb). I'm sure it would be more than a coincidence if they cut Gary Glitter's performance TWICE!
JK2006 Thank you Chris. The irony is - I really don't care one way or the other whether I'm cut from TOTP; I just felt it was wrong (and I love the BBC).

I also think they should be reshowing both Entertainment USA in full (all 8 series) and No Limits - two fabulous examples of life in the 80s. As a viewer - I'd love them. As host and producer - I really don't care. Too busy doing NEW stuff.
Chris Retro The early broadcast had to be trimmed down to 28/29 minutes, and they cut GG and The Drifters from that showing.
The late broadcast, and those to be shown on saturday, was unedited and contained The Drifters and Gary Glitter.
You're to be thanked for having the tenacity and the integrity to raise this matter with the BBC, if they show GG in full 'seductive' mode as they did last night (I can imagine drinks being dropped in horror all around Britain) then they are definitely prepared to stand by their promise to 'not rewrite history'. Prior to this things had gotten ridiculous - when 6music repeated the 52-part "Story Of Pop" in the early hours of the morning recently the Glam Rock episode was cut by about 8 minutes, and all trace of GG removed. This was part of a warts-&-all radio documentary, utterly scandalous.

It is looking hopeful that in the wake of Leveson & the downfall of NOTW etc the BBC really are "growing a pair". Many would view old TOTPs & the archive status of a disgraced glam rocker as a trite matter but it's tip-of-the-iceberg stuff and important to those with a genuine love & appreciation for music and archive TV.
I'm not one for sycophantic toadying and I'm no massive Glitter fan, but I can't thank you enough for this JK. Cheers!
