I hadn't actually considered this in my anti-chart rant last week...
If the chart is no longer shown on telly or used in shops then record companies won't want to try to manipulate it. Then once again it will reflect what the public is actually buying...

Where's that Pop-i(?) chart which you mentioned, JK? I might check it out.
I used to always follow the BBC singles chart, but over the last few years it became a bit stale. However, it did seem to be picking up slightly just before they axed TOTP. I wonder why the BBC put such clueless people in charge of that show?
