For those that don't work in music as their primary job: what's the disparity between what you get to spend at work, and what you spend on music?

It just struck me today that we spent about a couple of grand (over the course of a year) making our last album, by borrowing lots of expensive gear, buying as little as we could get away with, and recording at weekends in a Psychiactric hospital admin building.

I just finished my 2007 budget at work, and it came to over a thousand times that, at 2.2 million quid.

How much more than a factor of a thousand have others managed? And, dammit, how can I persuade my company to sponsor our music? Hmmm...
