Very high levels are now being seen - similar to before 9/11.

US embassies and diplomatic outposts are being closed after thousands of high ranking al-Quaeda operatives and personnel have been broken out of jail over the last couple of weeks.

These closures are taking place from North Africa to the Middle East but the US say the attack(s) could be anywhere.

However, so far, the UK media seem more interested in other matters....

If I'm cynical (and conspiracy theoristic) - it could be a US cover story to take the heat out of the 'e-mail / cyber snooping' problem they have with the chap in Hong Kong......look the system works, don't shut us down

If i'm a believer of the story - a) its real or b) we are talking 'terrorists', so it works. Terrorists do things to terrorise people............maybe on this ocaision they have decided to become 'visible' and get us all jumpy even though nothing might be planned.............
