TOPIC: Help required from old people

Help required from old people 11 Years, 10 Months ago
Many years ago my friend Johnny Koon, who opened the first Chinese takeaway in Britain and ran the Lotus House and Cathay in London (and a funny little place overlooking the meat rack on Piccadilly Circus) built an exact replica of Tara (the house in Gone With The Wind) just outside Tangier. I know because I went there. Anybody know more?

I'm one of them..an 'old people' but quite honestly, the idea of Tara being re-created in Morocco sounds like an abomination !!

I mean Southern Mansion architecture was never known for it;s grace and beauty

what on earth possessed him to build such a structure ???

I think this may take the prize as the wackiest thread of the year

It was bizarre but Johnny was quite bizarre too; but that's one reason I'd love to know what happened to the old place (it crops up in my new novel).

I think it is a marvelous idea. I would wangle an invite and run around Tara in long curtain dresses crying "Ashley, Aaaaashleeeee" and shooting Yankees until the men in white coats came.

And Ashley was SUCH a drip - I felt at one with "Frankly my dear I don't give a damn" up there with "I think we're going to be great friends" (paraphrased; sorry Casa fans) as the best last movie line ever.

hopefully the Moroccans would recognise you for the loony you are, tie you to a camel and send you out to the desert.
