Jamie Oliver agrees with ITK ! 11 Years, 10 Months ago
Jamie Oliver has said he struggles to talk about modern poverty after seeing families living on junk food but spending money on enormous televisions.

The chef, who has previously worked with ministers to improve school food, said he was baffled by struggling Britons who relied on expensive ready meals.

"You might remember that scene in Ministry Of Food, with the mum and the kid eating chips and cheese out of Styrofoam containers, and behind them is a massive ******* TV. It just didn't weigh up."

Not entirely sure this is quite as simple as he makes out.I do however believe there is a lot of truth in it,and has always been so.
I do remember he scared off lots of kids from school lunches,he may be better off sticking to silly books.

The television chef, Jamie Oliver, has said that if his restaurants had to rely on British staff rather than European immigrants they would close.

Oliver said that immigrants were "stronger" and "tougher" than their British counterparts who tended to "whinge" about too long hours.

"British kids particularly, I have never seen anything so wet behind the ears!

I have mummies phoning up for 23-year-olds saying to me, 'My son is too tired'. On a 48-hour-week! Are you having a laugh?"

He told the magazine: "I think our European immigrant friends are much stronger, much tougher.

He is right in many ways about people wasting money on sub standard food but gives a completely daft example of how to do it.
He says...."25 mussels, 10 cherry tomatoes, and a packet of spaghetti for 60 pence, and knock out the most amazing pasta"

Well, twenty-five good sized mussels would cost about seven pounds, and ten measly cherry tomatoes is hardly enough vegetable, so you would have to add salad, and and even if you bought the cheapest pasta at thirty-nine pence (not sixty as he thinks) it is hardly a cheap meal for people on a tight budget when you can get a kilo of minced beef for £4 per kilo and it goes so much further.
He can shove his mussels!

I had to laugh when I read that...plus the cost of all the ingredients etc.

However he is correct that Europeans do teach their kids to cook at an early age so it becomes natural.

Good, the sooner all his stupid restaurants are closed and the less we see of his fat face on tv the better.
He can't speak proper English, he's fat and ugly and there are far better chefs (he has zero michelin stars).
The less we hear of his Mockney whinging the better.

I couldn't agree more it's up to people what they eat if they want to put themselves in a early grave then be it.

He's worth £150 million (allegedly) - so clearly someone likes his books, TV shows etc !

Maybe today's idle youth could learn a lesson ?

Yes they do, idiots that don't know good food when they taste it and take in all the fake mockney patter. The masses are asses. Trust you to judge people on how much money they earn. By your measures the sun is the best newspaper out there.

You don't pay for me as I have no GP or dentist, you do pay for the odd game or so of county cricket.

I just eat very simply...smoked salmon and a good French Champagne.

I recommend it to everyone for a healthy life. Indeed I follow Madame Bollinger's advise : drink it when you are sad or happy, in the morning, for lunch and at dinner.

Jamie can just bugger orf.

A bottle of meths & a cheese sarney, always gets me through the day...Remember the days when your National Insurance went towards your NHS treatment? Perhaps, we should return to those rules. Free Prescriptions for all.

Aldi do a nice champagne for ten pounds now. You see them swigging it in the queue for Greggs!

yes been there done that.
Have discovered my local Aldi in Oz and it has a $30 bottle of French champagne and an excellent French sparkling for a measly $10 which I reckon (and believe my I know) is as good as Moet (which I've never liked but will drink if you hold a gun at my head)

sadly ITK the dolers in Oz are basically great consumers of meth amphetamines...as I discovered when a largish screeching lady was being bundled into a Paddy Wagon yesterday in Kings Cross mid-afternoon...she suddenly burst out and floored 3 tiny coppers and ran screaming down the steet.

A pensioner beside me shook his head and said 'another meth addict". it was good theatre though.
