Prime Ministers LOVE going to war 11 Years, 10 Months ago
Even Maggie fell for the temptation of using the power we give them to kill human beings in our name.

Resist the seduction of playing soldiers, Cameron.

David Cameron tweeted that today's "war talks" at Downing Street had "agreed unanimously that the use of chemical weapons by Assad was unacceptable - and the world should not stand by"

Better late, than never !

Give in to a tyrant now - and he will hold you hostage forever.

I agree, it's unacceptable and the world should not stand idly by; which doesn't mean let's kill some Syrians.

yes chemical weapons are most hideous. Where did we hear about them last time?

Iraq and WMD.

that worked out well.

Someone ought to remind Cameron that going to war is a two way strike; if the UK starts bombing Syria, Assad will probably send chemical weapons to London. Surely the poison gas doesn't need rockets and armies but one cunning man with a small bag and a couple of phials should annihilate London. Do we really want to give our lives in order to replace one nasty foreign regime with another?

Giving in to tyrants never works - it just emboldens them.

Fair enough if it's YOUR tyrant but why poke sticks at tyrants elsewhere? And many would regard the UK government tyrants. Or the US President. How they got there is not relevant. Election, military, coup, inherited... decent men and women change when corrupted by power. Blair was a decent man until he got his finger on the button to kill innocent Arabs.

If he gets away with this, where next?

They have already started issuing gas masks in Israel.

If they get away with THIS (shooting innocent protesters in London; attacking protesters in Croydon) where next?

Is the common dnominator here not the fact the area just happens to be another place, where oil comes from?

I'm still contemplating thw situation if Germany had won the 2nd World War...I doubt the Syria stuff, would even be happening. Well, the whole block would be Germany run, would it not? The United States Of Europe/World would be in operation. President Obama/David Cameron...Who the hell would they be?

And still nobody in public (except me, here) seems to say - if we declare war on Syria, Assad will be quite entitled to declare war on us and others and a few well trained men (or women) with poison in small phials could well put them into the water systems of London, New York, Los Angeles, Paris and Frankfurt, killing millions of innocent civilians (as Cameron and others want to do in Syria).

Well it's what anybody with brains would reckon Assad would do, isn't it?

Plus, of course, target the Internet.

... and if we back-down and are seen to be weak, don't you think he might do that anyway?

Don't you think other loonies (in Korea / Iran) might see our weakness and refusal to accept the obvious (because it might be a bit dangerous) as a further opportunity?

The way to deal with tyrants is NOT to run and hide - its to confront them.

If we deal with Assad now - the others will know what to expect if they do something similar (which lessens the liklihood that they would).
