Britain's day of shame ...... 11 Years, 10 Months ago
We shall NOT fight them on the beaches ... etc

Yesterday will go down in history as a day of shame for Britain, as Parliament - still reeling from the lies and deceit of the last Labour government over Iraq - was sabotaged by a traitorous would-be next Labour government.

As Assad gloats and threatens new outrages (Britain DARE NOT stand up to me) evidence of yet another attrocity was emerging even as MPs were still waiting to hear the outcome of yesterday's vote.

Fortunately ... for the people of Syria, none of this matters.

The attacks WILL go ahead and the new heros and leaders of Europe will be France.

Corporal Jones must be turning in his grave with shame.

Oh, the shame .... the humiliation !

How do I change my passport to a European one, so no one knows that I'm British?

I'm deeply ashamed that we ran and hid when we could have stood up (to the tyrant)and saved thousands, if not millions, of lives.

Those who said "run away" have (all future) blood on their consciences.

My ancestors - who fought at Agincourt (the last time we p***ed on the French) will be turning in their graves - well, fine alabaster tombs actually inside(*) the church at Hathersage (which they re-built).

While Silliband waves a WHITE FLAG and contemplates Labour's new logo - it's a YELLOW rose, folks - David Cameron looks statesmanlike and a great democrat in allowing the semi-literate members of the Labour party a say when he could have simply invoked Royal Protocol.

(*) The common people, like Robin Hood's sidekick Little John, are buried outside. I often tie my dogs up to the railings round Little John's grave when I pop into the church for a chat with the ancestors LOL !)

Let's look on the bright side from the UK perspective.

This virtually ensures Miliband will be leader right up to the election and by then this will have gone disastrously wrong - making Cameron look positively Saintly

I tend to agree on the argument that we shouldn't sit by and watch.

However, to all those who claim Cameron was gung ho, bloodthirsty etc.....let me remind you.

He has taken a Parliamentary vote WITHOUT a sexed up, non existant threat dossier like a previous MAJORITY party did in Government. He hasn't quickly stood behind a BULGARIAN flag and sugggested that Bulgaria are an ally to the UN resolution that is disputed for legality to take action...and he hasn't tried to hide the truth of the vote or public opinion.....and it isn't a Majority Government either, so it isn't as historical a defeat as is suggested

He has taken it on the chin, he has accepted the vote and he will move on. In my book, that is everything that the previous Government didn't do in a democracy....so I disagree on the outcome, but I applaud the method

....and in hindsight, if others take up the cause, we will likely be seeing this as a narrow escape as our forces are jaded, we have defence cuts and we have low morale......so lets see how history pans out with this one

Lord Ashdown backs ITK ! 11 Years, 10 Months ago

Former Lib Dem leader Lord Ashdown suggested Britain was reduced as a country.

He told Sky News: "I fear as I wake up this morning that our country is a hugely, hugely diminished country.

"In more than 50 years of trying to serve my country in one form or another, I don't think I have ever felt more depressed or ashamed."

Wise words, Mr Reason

if others take up the cause, we will likely be seeing this as a narrow escape as our forces are jaded, we have defence cuts and we have low morale......so lets see how history pans out with this one

There was never any suggestion of our troops being involved.

Remember, while you are hiding from incoming cruise missiles you can hardly gas any more of your own subjects (temporarily)

Failure to act would have certainly emboldened Assad and further attacks would be routine (and immediate).

100,000 dead already

I wonder where "those against" would set their barrier for a re-think?

500,000 dead ?

1,000,000 dead ?

You could be right, Observer - we don't want a new leader to decale a "fresh start" do we?

I wonder if at their annual conference this year they will be singing the new version of their usual song - "We'll keep the WHITE FLAG flying here" ?

Very interesting quote in John Kerry's speech -

He said France was America's oldest ally.

Britain was never mentioned at all - air-brushed from history, as a result of the traitorous damage done by the Silliband.

How could we ever elect such an irresponsible idiot? - who takes his order from another country (unfortunately, we do not know which one).

The great mistake MPs have made, regardless of whether you like or dislike how they voted, is to claim they've acted 'as our constituents wanted'. This cowardly explanation basically suggests they suddenly think they're delegates rather than representatives, so it will be interesting to see how these sad hypocrites excuse themselves the next time they DON'T want to rubber stamp what their constituents want (gay marriages? the death penalty? taxes?). Constituents aren't foreign policy experts, any more than they're macro economics experts, so it's a bit pathetic MPs are now asking them to do the governing!

Do you think anyone will ever trust Ed "Wave the WHITE FLAG" Silliband again ?

He is a traitor.

He agreed to support the PM - as most do in times of conflict - then "changed his mind" the following day (when his handlers in Russia / China had had a word with him.
