Whilst the BBC can use the excuse of Jimmy Savile for not playing "One For You, One For Me" from the 12th October 1978 show (since they didn't show any of the programme), it will be interesting to see how they deal with your performance on the 26th October 1978 show (due in a couple of weeks), as that was presented by Tony Blackburn.

The BBC seem to be quite happy to edit the programmes at the moment. In 1978 I remember seeing John Travolta & Olivia Newton John for week after week on Top of the Pops, but they have been replacing the familiar clips from Grease with dance routines featuring Legs & Co, to save money, and it is not what I remember at all.

Good for you JK - the BBC need to be reminded they serve all the license payers and not just the morons.

The TOTP repeats on BBC4 are under threat by virtue of turncoats within the BBC who have their own agenda and wish to use the show - and the BBC 'legacy' - to further their own careers. BBC4 has had its budget slashed to practically nothing - it's "highbrow" you see, "niche" doesn't matter to the executives eyeing their next career move. The 'Summer Nights' promo was shown on the recent BBC2 TOTP2 'Summer Special' and yet erased from the original shows to which it belongs when they are shown on BBC4.

There are good people in the organisation still but they are having to battle with the vile. At the moment, it's a good idea to send a message of SUPPORT to mark.cooper@bbc.co.uk - Mark and his assistant Dione are both fans and supporters TOTP, but are up against it in terms of the snakes in the grass there too (OUR grass, for these people work for the license payer). If you would like to see 1979, drop Mark a line and say so, and thank him for the job he is doing (in very strained circumstances)

According to the Radio Times for week ending 4 October 2013, BBC4 are broadcasting the 26 October 1978 edition of Top of the Pops on Thursday 3 October. The Radio Times listing states that Jonathan King is among the performers.

Classic Daily mail today: after doing all it could to reduce the BBC to a quivering, cowardly, submissive wreck of a broadcaster, it now complains about the BBC apologising too much! They should send the Mail's editor to Guantanamo Bay, he'd soon crank up the psychological warfare and have every internee screaming for mercy.

totp

It says that on the bbc website too, however it did say that a couple of years ago when jk was in the charts with "It only takes a minute", but edited it out of the screened version. There will be trouble if they do that again.

The pillocks at the BBC said that "The Jacksons" were on the 5/10/78 show the other week - it was announced in the Radio Times, their website and continuity announcers before each broadcast.
It was in fact UK singer-songwriter performing his original version of Blame It On The Boogie.

Mick Jackson, if I remember, not related, rather like current media is not related to the fact and correct spelling media of the past. Nairobi was spelled Nairbi on a recent BBC News bulletin.

Ah, but today pointing out spelling mistakes - or any mistakes - is classed as bullying. There are no longer mistakes, just 'verified' alternatives, as wikipedia would put it. What a shambles!
