Ed Miliband vs the Daily Mail 11 Years, 9 Months ago
Dear Ed; you seem unaware that it has been granted (and approved by politicians like you) that the media can smear all dead people as much as they like. It's perfectly fine if the Mirror now publishes articles alleging that David Cameron's late grandfather was a paedophile - whether he was or not. And it's acceptable for the police to call him the worst paedophile of all time without investigating because everyone is now considered guilty unless proven innocent. Indeed I'm astonished the police haven't backed up nice Paul Dacre's comments by saying your Dad Ralph was "the worst Britain hater of all time". Check tomorrow's paper - a headline loving cop may well do so.
Welcome to the new society that you and new Labour helped to create. Along with the coalition, Lord Leveson, Old Uncle Tom Cobblestones (worst cobbler ever) and all.

And if you don't want your personal life manipulated by the media then stop dragging your poor spouse - who has absolutely no political role to play - on to stage for an awkward kiss (ooh, how very modern!), then a similarly posed peck on the hotel sofa, and later during the election run-in no doubt a four-page meet my lovely family spread in the Observer. All in all, as usual, depressingly hypocritical stuff from the oldest student politician in town, and the leader who sat happily as his fellow MPs used the time for tributes to the recently-deceased Thatcher as an opportunity to denounce her.

But the interesting thing is how the Mail has misjudged middle England - a serious mistake, I reckon; the beginning of the end for the paper. Remember; this is the man who predicted the demise of the News of the World.

Although I hate the Daily Mail, politicians like Ed Milliband and David Cameron were quick to jump on the Saville Bandwagon and automatically assume that it was the truth. However when the story is about someone close to them, they demand automatic apologies. Very hypocritical.

Oh don't be silly. A few more asinine health scares, a few more immigrant shockers, a few more anti-BBC bilge blasters and all will be well with their readers.
Re:Ed Miliband vs the Daily Mail 11 Years, 9 Months ago
you are all wrong (although agreed re the false accusation industry).
the Daily Mail has lost the plot (maybe because ITK is on holidays and not around to advise them)..they are doing Miliband the most amazing PR job he could ever wish for. Number 10 beckons.
Re:Ed Miliband vs the Daily Mail 11 Years, 9 Months ago
HEDDA - I think you've missed the cynicism above - I and most posters seem to agree; this has been a disastrous mistake by the Mail, getting middle England very wrong. We all feel - their behaviour is simply NOT CRICKET!

it's all part of the Murdochracy and the Fox Newsiastion of everywhere. And it's why The Sun's online subscriptions have been a disaster (as his Oz subs have)
the media is full of vacuous talking heads or hacks like the ghastly Levy - they are simply vicious and nasty. TV is full of them each one trying to outdo the other to create a name. Any nasty comment is allowed but you are correct, they have misjudged 'Middle England'.
All this ghastliness- and the Mail's Miliband attempt is really bizarre, just leaves a bad taste and turns people off. There is only so much Savileisation they can take before the masses switch off and demand niceness.
Even decent Tories (not you ITK) would find this distasteful.

Police have now confirmed that Ralph Miliband is to now be regarded as the country's Worst Ever Britain Hater and in line with national policy all future accusations of Britain-hating are to be treated as fact with no need for further investigation.
Instead they will be conducting Operation Highgate to see what lessons can be learned from the scandal, what opportunities were missed to stop this evil man bringing two politician sons into the world and to see if there are any living Marxists who can be fitted up to compensate.
Re:Ed Miliband vs the Daily Mail 11 Years, 9 Months ago
Proud to say I'm hated too! But seriously - I've not seen anyone take a machine gun and shoot all ten of his own toes off one by one before, so thank you, Mr Dacre.

... normal (sane) service is now resumed, hedda !
Is it not right that we SHOULD know that the man who most influenced the Silliband is a left wing loony who despised everything about Britain?
Unfortunately the dimwit Labour supporters will be too enamoured by the "energy freeze promise" to notice (completely unaware that ALL that will mean is massive price hikes immediately before, and after, the "freeze")
