As Max gets ready for his trial next year I only have one word to say - Karma -and point you at Vile Pervert: The Musical (where you'll see how the fiasco against me started - with a man approaching Clifford, as you would do, thirty years later, as opposed to going to doctors or police) and repeat these words from the Mail some years ago...


There is, however, another twist in this tale because Cowell's generosity did not go down at all well with his spokesman and friend, PR guru Max Clifford.

Clifford famously despises King and was partly responsible for putting him behind bars after three of the pop impresario's victims came to him with their stories of abuse.

"I didn't know about the bail money at the time, but obviously it has come out in conversation with Simon since," says Clifford. "I have set him straight about what kind of man King is.

"And I know better than anyone since I spoke at length to several of King's victims and I am proud to say I have a letter from Surrey police thanking me for my help in putting this evil paedophile behind bars."

Clifford had the letter framed and has hung it in his Bond Street office.

Incidentally, it wasn't three men; it was one (Curt in the film)... others came forward after the massive publicity about my arrest.

Oh what an intelligent man Cowell is to allow Max Clifford to 'put him right'. As moral as he is talented. No wonder so many people in this increasingly moronic country revere him so.

I see, as Max describes the alleged abused young girls as "anonymous", he wants to give the impression that he doesn't know who they are. That must surely be false. Defendants have to be given all details in order to prepare their defence. They do, naturally, remain anonymous for reporting purposes (so, in my mind, should the accused - if that had been the case 13 years ago I'd never have been charged, let alone convicted). But, then, blurring the facts is a part of Max's business.

I doubt anyone believes the creep. It would be great to think he's finally realising what he's put others through but I fear he's just as impervious as ever.

It depends whether or not he's guilty Pru. If he is, he'll be feeling "I got away with it so long, and thought my high profile charity work and loud condemnation of other paedophiles would have protected me, but it didn't, so this is the fight of my life... better make sure my hair looks nice in March"... If he's innocent (and we must all presume that, mustn't we?) perhaps, just perhaps, he's wondering whether we were innocent too. In which case I expect an apologetic phone call shortly.

Everybody is entitled to ask for bail and ask friends or family to assist and there should be no demonizing of those who post it.

So in this case yes, Karma has kicked in. Nasty sod.
