Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I find the structural messiness a bit tiresome and over-indulgent at times, especially in the Topsy Turvy one. Writing's a craft, as an English graduate you must appreciate that, and Leigh gets an incredibly uncritical ride in that sense. Of course the actors love it because it makes them feel creative, but movies are supposed to be for audiences, not actors.
