Yes, the twits in the production team are trying to take him on one of their inane 'journeys'. He doesn't need to do anything but more of the same. Change the staging, keep the act.
I do despair sometimes at the direction on this show. The spectacle is really well done, but the director doesn't seem to realise that if you're showing movement, you don't need to keep moving the camera. They showed a Fred Astaire movie earlier - no camera cuts during the dances, which you saw in toto. Some of the dances on Strictly are impossible to judge because they flit from close up to medium shot to overhead, etc etc, and it's chaos visually.
