Firstly, the weather forecasters were determined not to be the new Michael Fish, so they exaggerated wildly and scared the bejaysus out of everyone, especially the elderly. Well done them. Then the 24-hour news channels were determined to have something to talk about for 24 hours, so they are going to insist that this is of biblical proportions no matter what the facts say. It's telling that they've sent all the reporters out to the coasts, where it always looks pretty wild at this time of day. They'll move on to snow scare stories next. It's wildly irresponsible because people won't believe them when something really dangerous does happen.

West Hampstead station last night, announcer stated 'due to the predicted bad weather, trains will stop at 11pm tonight and not restart until 9am Monday morning'. !!!!
Not even an attempt to run a rail service.................

That's because the rail operators have to pay fines when their trains are late. If a train doesn't run at all there is no penalty.

The dozens of trees across the lines didn't help either !

Wonder if Milliband's friends are waiting for the 'wrong type of snow'?

Just to clarify, the announcement was at about 2100, the last train is usually just past midnight and the weather wasn't predicted until 0400 - 0500 ....just seemed way too easy to kop out.....
...and if I'd have stayed for a curry at Wembley with friends, I'd have been scuppered.
