And all those "victims" who come forward when a celebrity is "exposed"... I've read the statements, remember, and can say with certainty, 99% of them are barking mad.

People who respond to media tend to be loonies. That's why there are millions who believe in alien abductions, who write in begging for justice when soap characters go to jail, say they were raped by dead people (yet not a single DNA proven child)...

There is a sinister belief amongst the nation's conspiracy theorists that this is some complicit evil scam being 'busted' here - that wicked celebrities sell their souls to the devil and then seek to 'abuse' everyone they come into contact with. Operation Witch Hunt is playing to this paranoia and thus these fear of 'conspiracy' create - and nobody can see the wood for the trees.
All these 'freedom fighters' demanding the police arrest people in dawn raids for historic allegations and that courts convict without evidence. Lemmings. The majority of these 'celebrity demons of the state' are just working class people made good - Savile (and his family left behind), Starr, Teret, DLT.... even The Silver Stoat. Not exactly 'the elite' even if, like Clifford, they have their fingers in poison pies. So *the elite* are turning 'the people' on 'the people'.

As for Paul - well, it's one for my crow/roadkill analogy. When out walking a few weeks ago I noticed a crow pecking at the flesh of another (dead) crow in the middle of the road. That crow will in turn get squashed by a car, and then eaten by another. And so on - the only way not to get squashed and eaten is to stay out of it. His dreadfully unedifying behaviour - practically dancing on Jimmy's grave and alluding to 'culture of abuse' at Radio 1 to drop others in it - will come back to haunt him. "Being Gay" actually feeds the idiots he was patronising, and so it may well end up a JK-style free-for-all, and his 'only gay in Egton House' schtick (which he wasn't anyway) just serves to alienate people who perhaps would ordinarily rally around and support him. Truth is the only thing that should be 'exposed' and people who subscribe to promoting bullshit due their own vanity and lack of humility only have themselves to blame

Am I wrong and foolish still to hope that the decent police (80%?) are starting to recoil in horror at the blatant falsehoods in some of these claims? And that they - mostly - loathe the dishonesty of the few corrupt or slippery cops? And that, soon, some of them will start blowing the whistle on the bent bosses?

I quite like those "XXX was so powerful he kept stories out of the media" conspiracy theorists. They really don't understand how institutions and media work, do they? But I am puzzled by the lack of "stories" about such people as Edward Heath, for example. Surely there must have been dozens of false allegations and it's such a great story - ex PM etc? Dead rock stars? I'll bet you one story about "XXX abused me" would prompt many more false allegations than Savile ever got.

It is coming though to a relative near you : your dead relative, famous or not will be denounced as a kiddie fiddler and their estate challenged. The Savile fiasco leads the way.
