BBC official censorship policy 11 Years, 8 Months ago
Hearing George Michael on radio today (an old hit - who on earth would play any new releases?) I wondered about the BBC censorship policy. No DLT presented Top of the Pops shows. Not convicted - an innocent man (LOL - I giggle every time I think of the absurd "innocent until or unless proven guilty" law). No Savile - another innocent man according to the law (giggle giggle again; how ludicrous justice in Britain today is). But inmate George Michael? Fine. Dirty Den (portrayed by a convicted murderer) fine. Boy George? Fine.

Perhaps it's the sex connection. Yet Bill Wyman is a frequent guest on TV and radio.

No Gary Glitter. It's really confusing. Perhaps common sense was taken out of the BBC the same time the backbone was surgically removed.

Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and R Kelly get airplay. I read that rumours are coming out about Dean Martin with under age girls.

I queried with BBC Essex about Gary Glitter in 2005. The reply I got was in vain to the Producer.

He replied that a vintage chart show "The Essex Years" played Glitter records, but no other show did, because their complaints team, didn't want to be inindatated with complaining members of the public. He was played on "The Essex Years" & the presenter would say "You can't Airbrush history".

BBC Jersey played a request on the Tony Gilham show in 2008. A listener requested Gary's 1973 million seller. Apparentlt one listener complained, with Gilham replying on air saying "There are 2 sides to every story"...Tony disappeared from BBC Jersey's daytime line-up shortly after!

Another station (of the independant variety) also played Gary. I knew the station manager & asked him, what the verdict was. He told me, if we don't play him, we get just as many complaints, as we do, when we do play him. So, we'll play him anyway!

The station "Big L" on-line played him on the Steve James show. Steve told the audience that he thought Gary had been set up, by the Press. Mike Read also played him, saying "Loathe the man, love the music".

Back to the BBC. BBC Kent. Dave Cash (on air) "I'm not playing that man, I'm not playing him, I'm sorry". Probably the worse remark going, as I thought presenters were not suppose to express opinions....Later Dave Cash married the woman, who does his traffic reports & they also made a big thing, about that on air. Then he spent week in, week out plugging his new book, on air, on his own show. Pigheadedness? I think so.

total cowards.

Dacre, Murdoch, MWT and a handful of like-minded now dictate public taste.

Mate told me there is going to be a huge GG box set out in the coming weeks. Wonder what will happen if it goes to number in the album chart.

I'll buy it; tremendous records - mainly thanks to Mike Leander. Funnily enough it'll probably sell shitloads BECAUSE radio and TV won't play it.

"Likewise no Gary Glitter hits. And no DLT or Savile (and now, I presume Gambaccini) on the BBC."

Gambaccini was in the Status-Quo-docu yesterday on BBC 2. Must have been an oversight. They could have cut him out easily. Who cares that the Quo failed in the US because they were on Cadet, the Chess sublabel for psychedelic rock?

ITV have, I gather, cut him out of a JFK documentary. When will they cut all those paedos out of Coronation Street? Only joking, Corrie fans.

I hear that there has been a huge find of classic television, particularly from Africa, but perhaps also finds from TVC whilst they were clearing out. This is where the recent 9 episodes of Doctor who came from. I believe that there are also some Top of the Pops episodes located which feature "the albino klunk klick ponce" as Alf Garnett would say. These episodes are likely to be stored in Room 101....
