TOPIC: More bent cops...

More bent cops... 11 Years, 8 Months ago
the year of individual accountability continues - the era of hiding behind a "police" label is coming to an end... perhaps soon Surrey Police will arrest those responsible for the murders committed by Levi Bellfield, allowing him to roam free before the Met caught him years after he killed Milly Dowler.

Hillsborough... Plebgate... are we seeing a pattern here?

Its a society thing for me.....I'll explain.....and then be shot at.

Like teaching, nursing or certain other public sector workforces, society has changed the way individuals are recruited and the way the individual views the role.

Our halcyon, rose tinted historical view of teachers, nurses and policemen was that they were upstanding citizens doing a vocational job THAT THEY WANT to do, for the conditions that job offers, for the good of the purpose of the role. A true 'vocation'.

My view is that a shift change has occured, where the vocation is much less and the job is one of many options to chose from in direct competition to the private sector..........Only this 'choice' has been watered down in many ways.

The requirements for entry have reduced (height, education level, fast tracking etc...)and the ongoing view of the 'vocational' jobs is that they should always be viewed cf the private sector terms and conditions. Ignoring the benefits that some of these roles have over private sector (which they conveniently keep quiet) they are always comparing salary and fixating on it.

This has lead to a conflict of 'duty' vs 'neccesity (for a job)' and has lead to the wrong people finding themselves in job areas they would previously not have found possible..........

Very well reasoned, Mr Reason

The early retirement age and the guaranteed bulletproof pension also helps !
