Tories try to delete speeches 11 Years, 8 Months ago
Well, its obvious why they would want to - uturns, contradictions, lies etc.

But how could they be so stupid, to think people wouldn't notice.

I don't see the big , big deal on this. The information out there somewhere. We are too tied to the internet anyway, it shouldn't be used as a primary source of information in the way lazy people use it.

These speeches are going to be available in printed archives elsewhere, so it isn't hidden full stop. What it will do, is make the job of a political journalist, blogger or activist harder by making them do traditional research ratheer than quick easy web searching. So its a game, and why would a 'political party' make the game for their detractors easieer than it needs to be?

In terms of the quoted speaches from the Conservatives about 'internet freedom and transparancy'.....I'm pretty sure it is easy to divorce 'party' related literature while in opposition from Governmental information related to actually running the Government....which is public data .......when were they voted in? 2010? when is the cut off proposed? Oh yeah, 2010..........

This is a story of nothing really. It is trying to be a big WOW they are supressing information, when in actual fact it is a 'party' decision to make the information less easy to find for lazy detractors.........it isn't a plan to remove information from while in Government, as far as the story admits............THERE IS A DIFFERENCE. Not in Government 2000-2010, don't want to make internet archive easy to create bad stories about them, 2010- now....no change while in office.

In Politics, why would you make life easier for your detractors when you don't have to ?

At the end of the day, we run a system of Government where party politics is king....so while you are in opposition, you are not legally bound to stick to anything you say (not that it follows a Government stands by what it says either....)

Quite right, Mr Reason.

ALL Parliamentary speeches are recorded forever in the Hansard reports - and people will still be able to consult them 1000 years from now.

It's a complete NON STORY (by an ever more desperate loony supporters club, desperate for some mud to sling).
All they are doing is tidying-up their website (as some of these speeches date back to 2000)

It was a lot more than a tidyup!

As today's Daily Mail confirms.

Hansard covers speeches in Parliament - but not news articles and press releases.

Poor gullible ITK thinking unemployment is down. Wonder what will happen if Tories have a coalition with Labour ?
