The case was funded by many clones, mates and media folk - looking for lines and a story.
Wait for the interviews, the TV coverage and the personal appearances.
A classic con, by a mediocrity who milked eccentricity, in a smallish sport/environment.....
Did you fall for it?

Personally, I feel very sorry for John, who, I feel is to Racing what Murray Walker is to Formula 1 and 'Whispering' Ted Lowe was to Snooker...
This said, I do believe that Channel 4 tried to stick with him for as long as they could. In the end, however, the new P.C. world we live in pretty much forced their hand. John comes from a bygone era and 'speaking your mind' and 'telling it like it is' are no longer cool on television these days even though its thought 'funny' when Julian Clary goes on about fisting Norman Lamont!
As far as the case being a wind up for a story I read that John has put his house on the line to fund his legal fees. Considering the man and going by past form I tend to believe that to be the case so I don't buy into the wind up theory.
all in all I think its a shame that John can not just let it go. Channel 4 HAD to move him on even if they did not really want to and to punters like me John McCririck will always be the legendary 'voice of the punters'.
