Shamed Stuart Hall will earn £4 a week to go on a prison course designed to stop him being a sex offender.
During the sessions he will be required to accept the damage he has caused to his victims.
Attendance is compulsory and anyone who does not attend could lose their right to an early release.
Hall is being held at Wymott prison near Preston, Lancs, as he serves a 30-month sentence for a string of indecent assaults.
The Category C prison is home to almost 1,200 inmates and has four wings housing sex offenders.
Hall, 83, is being held on I Wing, reserved for elderly prisoners . In addition to the Sex Offender Treatment Programme, the prison also has a Victim Awareness Course.
The ex-TV presenter will be paid a minimum £4 a week to attend the course, but governors are free to raise the amount.
A Prison Service spokesperson said: “Prisoners who take part in work, education, or offending behaviour programmes receive a minimal amount but only if they participate in purposeful activity.”
The former It’s A Knockout host and BBC Radio Five Live presenter was jailed in June after he admitted assaulting 13 girls between 1967 and 1986.
Last week he faced new allegations in court of raping two girls, one aged 11, between 1976 and 1981.
There are 11,530 sex offenders in jail in England and Wales, out of a total prison population of 83,700.
The rising number is making it hard to get all offenders on courses.
