Now 88; I think he's a National Treasure. What a life! I remember meeting him at Sherbourne School when he was filming with my friend Allan Warren.

Have to watch it on demand a real true British gentleman, heard he is now in a home for retirement actors.

George is one of very few celebrities I care about. I absolutely LOVED 'Minder' and his performance as 'young Scrooge' in the Alastair Sim version of 'A Christmas Carol' I get to see every year in Dec. George gives the impression of being a thoroughly decent man which is ironic really seeing as most of his film or T.V. roles have revolved around him playing 'dodgy' characters!

Would love to meet him but doubt I will get the chance now...

I've been given an entire set of Minder on disc and working my way slowly though them

realise now I only even saw about one quarter of them

I love George Cole and think and he is a National treasure...I once sold him a bed in the Kings Road in the late 70s and delivered to his home.
(very fond of Denis Waterman as well)

One of my favourite old-time showbiz stories is how Alastair Sim "adopted" George Cole (and his mother!), who lived with the Sims for over 10 years - just a lovely example of simple human kindness.

Probably why I live and die by the Alastair Sim version of 'A Christmas Carol' then Mickey. I firmly believe to act in anything well or to perform in any way at all you need to feel what it is you are doing in order to really do it well.

Simple kindness is after all what not just Christmas but life is all about...

Wonderful actor. I wasn't a fan of Minder, but I've so many things he's been in - I have quite a rare collection of his old radio show, "A Life of Bliss," which (obviously!) I wasn't around to hear when they first went out. He was in a sitcom only a few years ago called 'Dad' and he was a delight in that.
