I don't ever see "foreigners" Andrew; I only see human beings.

Normally I am all for Britain helping refugees, but I have difficulty in supporting us taking Syrian refugees. It's not a racist thing, but more a question of the circumstances of them becoming refugees in the first place.
Although no one comes out well in the Syrian civil war, my support goes to the legitimate Government and not to the many rebel factions - the most of which are 'out of control'
The Syrians that left as refugees should, in my opinion, return.

Peace on Earth - never going to happen.

God will to all men - not in my life time.

I don't see this as a UK PROBLEM, a UK story maybe, but not our problem........how many Somali, Afghans or Lybians have our EU 'friends' taken? And the way the French system, another EU country, allows all comers through their borders knowing the next stop is the UK is shocking..........

Amnesty do good things, but they are also a political body. Their recent claims and headlines are not humanity based, they are politics based....in my opinion

A bit like Capital Punishment (my position; it is wrong to take a human life) - Immigration seems to provoke extreme reactions. My position; we are all human beings. Enough nationalism.

Do try to read AA Gill on Lampredusa, Mr R.

I get it, the boat people, exploitation, chasing the dream....tragedy. I know all of that, but my compassion in this modern world can't afford to be stretched .....and I don't feel obliged to think more about others than I can afford to or where my compassion or humanitarian hopes for other extend beyond any influence I can bring to bare..........at some point, without independent financial means, that is I have to work, I have to put my energies into getting through life myself, otherwise I'd become a monk and live extremely frugally and just prey for world peace...........very few people can live life for others nowadays, unless you have more wealth than you can possibly deal with (£75 turkey ?)..............

Nationalism exists because boundaries exist. Boundaries exist because of past claims by feudal overlords, feudal overlords protected what they saw as theirs.........how can that possibly be overturned and how can nationalism cease to bring strife while there is the idea of wealth based on 'having stuff'.......

No offence meant about a £75 turkey..............
