Very sad news. He made some fine movies later on - My Favorite Year, The Stunt Man etc - and was always so watchable.

I saw him in that - he was wonderful. He did lots of excellent things late on. Rogue Male on tv was another.

81 is a pretty good innings for someone with such a reputation for hard drinking and fast living.
