smacking 11 Years, 6 Months ago

If was naughty I got smacked, if I was naughty in class I got board rubber thrown at me. I des.erved it, I learned how to respect authority. I seen mums intervene when they smack their own child.

Kids need to be smacked not punched etc.

I think a proper and clam talking to is more effective than raising your hands, and more worthy of respect...

my parents never smacked or laid a hand on me (except my Dad at dinnertime who used to tap tap tap us kids on the hand until we held a knive and fork correctly- result you can now take me to a very exspensive Champagne lunch and I will behave impeccably)...neither did their parents and so on going backwards.

privileges were withdrawn however and it worked..I am a model citizen.

I was however thrashed mercilessly with a cane by an insane English teacher who I swear got pleasure from beating small boys. Didn't teach me anything.

I am very lucky that my children responded to an explanation of why something was wrong,so I didn't need to smack them, but I think a swift tap on the bottom or hand is far less damaging than endless grounding and confiscations which seem to encourage spitefulness.
Discipline has nothing to do with child abuse.
