I wont go into detail, but your Mother never leaves you. She is always there, in your blood, powering your heart, warming your innards. Not wanting to sound like a script from the appalling Call The Midwife...I'll leave it there.
Not entirely sure what you are meaning FC, but I think you may have had some kind of spiritual experience?
We like to think that we have evolved and now know (almost) everything there is to know ... but I believe there is much we don't know.
I have a "mental" chat with my mother almost daily.

Me wonders(in thoughtful pondering)is death, exactly the same as falling to sleep?
My mum died 6 weeks ago (hence why I've been quite of late). The doctors were quite useless in the end (though they were pretty much all the time since she was ill).
Watching her closely in the few days before she died, it became apparent that she was already slipping into a dream world & unable to separate from reality. She was describing events of 35/40 years ago, like it were the present.
She passed away at 3.30am on Friday 22nd November. I had a dream about an elevator going up. Not 10 minutes later, the hospital told of the sad news. Consequently my brother told of the same dream.
Her last words were "I did turn it off, didn't I?"
What she did or didn't turn off, was quite unapparent. But in her mind it was something like 1978. 4 days before her passing, her old coat fell off it's peg. At the time I said "that's a bad sign". Old energy having an effect? I think so. Day after she died, the bulb in her old bedroom blew. No coincident, I don't think.
All proving we can & have to use our living energy to make a difference to some of the bureacratic idiots calling the shots, in this badly run country.
