The police spokesman is desperately trying to make out that "its one rogue officer".
What he fails to understand is that its police culture to "prop each other up" etc - and come to the aid of "brother" officers.
This "rogue" officer was doing just that - making up a story in order to "back up" his mates.
If it's just "one rogue police officer" perhaps this police spokesman would like to explain why
800 police officers (since 2008) have retired rather than face up to allegations made against them ?

Can you imagine a member of the pubic - accused of a crime - being able to "walk away" (and keep the Knighthood / lucrative pension)?
How could we ever expect an organisation that investigates itself to ever be transparent (or honest) ?
Its utterly absurd - and I strongly believe the government (even before the Mitchell affair) is well onto this, but as they "need" the police onside, have to tread very carefully.
The police have completely shot themselves in the foot.
