My huge Christmas/New Year treat... 11 Years, 6 Months ago

was watching the DVD set of Smiley's People. What a joy! Far and away the best thing on (my) TV this season. Alec Guinness magnificent, of course, but Bernard Hepton stole the show as Toby Esterhase. Wonderfully atmospheric, subtle, clever and intelligent. And the non speaking part at the end - Karla himself? An early role for Patrick Stewart.
