Only in 2009 was it linked to an anti Zionist ploitical party in France, and even then the gesture isn't overtly claimed to be anything other than a gesture (quite possibly just for want of some some publicity from the association with the originator comedian) and has no other obvious meaning or symbolism............

and you expect a footballer to be so politically aware about it as not to do it, when apparently the trend in France is for the quenelle to be offered as an up yours gesture ?
