An interesting House of Lords defeat for the Government this week 11 Years, 5 Months ago
The Government wanted to stop people granted quashed convictions on appeal getting compensation (Barry George a high profile victim of this iniquitous law). The Lords threw this out. An innocent man no longer has to prove his innocence to get compensation. Heavens - innocent until or unless proven guilty makes a small comeback. Media not very interested. I live on another planet. The human species is foreign to me.

Does that mean Barry George will now get compensation - or will they restrict it to future cases, I have always thought he has been treated despicably by the legal system.

good that the Lords did this.
In Oz the High Court just overturned a 100 yr old precedent in the case of a woman wrongly jailed for attempt. murder for 10 years which means she can now sue the police for malicious prosecution.
