I remember when he started. I remember when Johnny Carson retired. I remember when David Letterman began (and I got a rave review for my radio show - being a British Letterman on radio!)

Have you read Bill Carter's books, JK? The Late Shift and The War for Late Night? Really engrossing if you like Leno and Letterman.

Never actually watched the programme, but admire its longevity. I cannot imagine a late night variety show Mon-Fri every week lasting that long on UK networks. The nearest we had was Wogan and that lasted only 7 years...

that telemovie about Letterman and Leno was very good. the actors playing them were terrific.
