It could be never ending. Especially when newspapers encourage it.

But I think, though media and police and CPS would love to bring down celebrities (look how nasty the media is to Michael Le Vell), the public opinion tide is starting to turn. And the one thing the Mail - the best and nastiest paper in Britain - is good at is going with middle England. Middle England is saying "stop this witch hunt now".

The DLT jury goes out on Monday - I expect Not Guilty verdicts in time for the News !

After that we'll never hear of this again .... Rolf Harris will never reach Court.

From the mail:

"Sources close to the Roache investigation say that ‘several’ women have contacted police but they are unlikely to pursue new claims.

At least three women made their allegations during the actor’s 17-day trial.

It is understood they concern incidents said to have taken place in the late 1960s and the early 1970s.

One of the women, now married and aged 64, alleges she met the actor when she was a teenage autograph-hunter.

Lancashire Police sources confirmed last night that officers had spoken to each of the new complainants.

However, a detective said: ‘There is no investigation, and there won’t be one.’"

Hopefully, it looks like the police at least, have had enough. It is far too easy to claim a link to a celebrity - for example, like the photo my wife has of her with a TOTP presenter ca 1972, so placing yourself at the scene of the alleged assault which you now can claim:
"Oh, and just after this he touched me...."

I note the Roache jury had a majority of women, I have heard they are generally more skeptical of other women than men, who tend to give the girls a free pass, especially if they are good looking / look vulnerable on the stand.

Well spotted.

Before any case starts, defendants can of course dismiss any individual jurors, until they have twelve of their choice.

This is just the police - heavily criticised over the Roache case - saying "we accept the verdict, but we don't accept the verdict" !

I wouldn't be surprised if these 'other allegations' are non-existant - and the work of a law firm with it's own 'media department' colluding with the press (like they did 3 weeks ago with the Janet Smith Review anti-BBC nonsense) in a desperate attempt to influence the jury in The Trial Of The Hairy Cornflake

At least they will have had the chance to 'fine tune' their evidence - no wrong gold RR, show the right cottage etc.
This whole thing started with accusers 'manufacturing' evidence based on information they garnered in the media, they got it wrong, were not believed and hopefully will be named & shamed.
These new accusers will have more detailed information to offer, but getting the Police or a Jury to believe them will be a major uphill struggle
Still, more overtime for the Police

The police are always moaning about their precious time being wasted these twits phone them up complaining about things like their toasters not working and David Moyes being rubbish, so why don't they start penalising these nutters making lazy allegations?
