No currency union, and now "almost impossible" for Scotland to join the EU.

These fringe parties promise the world but the reality - if / when they have to delivery - is very different !

When you think about it - its quite ludicrous for every place of around 5 million people to say they want "independence" and to become a member of the EU.

Where next ? ie -

Scotland population - 5.2 million
Yorkshire population - 5.3 million

Spoilt child syndrome.............THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT SCOTLAND ! It affects the whole UK

Wants a debate with the PM on a Scotland only vote, can't get one because , in my view correctly, the PM states this debate is about Scotland wanting to leave, and he is the PM of the UK and quite correctly doesn't want to alienate the rest of the country

Wants to blame bullying for the simple fact that the NO vote has stated that in an independant Scotland the £ can't be kept. FACT. This isn't bullying, its a Political fact that has been stated. Just because it doesn't fit the wishes of Mr Salmond and because it blows his wish list out of the watwer, he calls it bullying !

This is a Scottish vote, it affects the whole of the UK....but you can't expect to have the debate and have your own way, you can't expect to dictate what you will and won't keep and get your own way...........it is not grown up to claim bullying when in actual fact it is just an errosion of half baked and incorrectly peddled Scottish propaganda from the Yes vote....that is asking far mopre questions than it is answering.

They won't vote Yes.....regardless of the Salmond childish behaviour. He will have his career ended byt his.

Cameron is on a hiding to nothing here. There are very good reasons why they can't keep the pound, and there are extremely good reasons they don't want the Euro. You can't have your cake and eat it.If Mr Fishy Scotsman want independence then he should take away a part of the national debt.Scottish banks were also bailed out (RBS etc). Then if their economy is going to be as strong as he claims then let them make their own currency.

The truth is independence has not been thought through. The EU debate has been going for years, and is easier to see where the money goes etc.Scots independence is more likely going to be a similar exercise as the split of the CCCP.I see Scotland struggling like the smaller CCCP nations,Belarus etc.Their economy being too far linked into the UK.Now imagine they're not in the EU,they will have to negotiate a place in the world trade organisation.Otherwise why should the rest of us give them unfair trading rights? It's not in our interests to let them into The EU,and would take years to sort out.
Better still let them into the EU,we come out, bring down excise duties, and like Eire we would get the benefit of them spending all their money on what would become our cheaper petrol and tobacco products etc.

I really like and admire Alex Salmond and have told him so to his face but I added "I wish you'd forget all this silly Independence rubbish and come and run the UK for us".

Whether or not Scotland will become independent, there is one thing for sure-it will happen, eventually. Maybe not in my lifetime but it is a given. I'm not convinced it's for the better but as Cameron, Osbourne and co keep talking the Yes campaign grow stronger. It really isn't in their best interests. All we hear up here is how bad things will be if we go it alone. How about some positive info if we stay in the Union. We should have went independent when we found the oil but thats another story. Additionally is it not a bit hypocritical to want to leave the European union whilst selling the idea to the Scots of how great it is top be part of one? ITK his name is Salmond.

Yes, angel, I know his name ... simple typo.

Mr Reason - Alex is like all other one-issue politicians and parties - SNP (independence), UKIP (zenophobia), BNP (racism) - when you remove the initial issue there is absolutely nothing there !

... have you done anything dodgy?

Advice - at a cost - readily available.

Have you thought about having a Hutton-style inquiry?

If you've been following Pattaya you'd be aware that the Better Together camp have been doing nothing but scare mongering. Project Fear has spread throughout mainstream media. Without any media coverage the independents are closing the gap as only announced earlier today. You have to agree that is quite remarkable.

Actually I felt Mr Brown was highlighting benefits of union, not threats of what will be denied.Better Together is made up of many less able political performers.
Personally I'd let Scotland go without being too worried, and even if they get new EU membership they face a 7 year time limit before free movement of labor kicks in....not even Cammy thought of that one.
