It is astonishing that her complaint was taken seriously and took so long to clear up, but I am also disgusted that someone with a "complete disconnection with reality" and a "borderline personality disorder" would be jailed.
She cant help her illness.

If the same person had sexually abused 2 people should she have been punished?
Unless she is insane then she should suffer the full penalty of the law.Remember those guys could have got a life sentence if found guilty.

It should just be taken into huge consideration when deciding whether to believeanything she says...

I fail to see how claiming you were 'raped' by your ex boyfriend would serve any purpose in covering up a drunken threesome with two other men???
I'd have thought not saying anything about it at all and hoping the other two don't either would be a more logical tactic...
I think it is "covering up" to themselves not others. It is quite common apparently.
They convince themselves they have been raped and then they can pretend they are not a trollop.

It sounds as if she is insane to me, if she has no grip on reality.
The fault lies with the legal system that convicts without evidence.
She (and abusers with similar mental illness) should be having proper medical help.

Being 'scatterbrained' is not an illness, just an excuse. Her legal team would have easily had her certified if it was the case.
This is a great example of 'you will be believed' being the wrong way to handle a complaint of sexual molestation.
We need an independent investigator to weigh up both sides of the evidence, then make an informed decision.

Anyone who does that clearly has problems handling reality. Specially when the threesome appears to have been her idea and her ex boyfriend had nothing what so ever to do with it...

The other reason why I'm NOT in favour of hefty jail sentences for false accusers is - it prevents people coming to their senses and owning up, to save their victims jail. If there's a hefty punishment they are more liable not to admit being mistaken.
But I also feel; the mentally ill (many false accusers are) need treatment and sympathy, not punishment.
But I'm not big on punishment anyway. It's not effective as a deterrent and why double up one nasty deed with another?

Once past the point of no return.
Do you know of any false accusers who later recant their accusations? Except for those who are caught out of course?

Yes, the men who accused the football manager Dave Jones of assaulting them. The whole case collapsed when one of them cracked and recanted his accusations, admitting that they were all just chasing compensation.
There are several recants Patt; it happens frequently and is rarely if ever reported. Subscribe to the excellent SAFARI news letter; they print names, details and facts about all sorts of false allegations.
And who (I believe) was the man behind the David Jones allegations? Waxie Maxie that famous public relations supremo.
