For those few (and fractionally demented) visitors who see me as a kind of gay Mary Berry figure - last night I concocted a delicious yet easy dish.

I slowly poached two chicken breasts in water with a splash of fine vinegar, two small cloves and some honey.
Meanwhile I fried an onion chopped small with three sliced garlic pieces in olive oil. When soft and golden I added half a can of coconut milk. Then the chicken breasts (only - not the poaching liquid, threw that away) and allowed them to simmer. Meanwhile I boiled, to 90% cooked, some broad beans and 6 tomatoes. Added the beans to the pot and squeezed the tomatoes through a sieve, adding the juice to the pot too.

Served it with roast potatoes.

Fantastic. Cold beer to wash it down.

And just to mention - today M&S have some very tasty figs (if you like figs) on sale.

I've decided that Wednesday will also be Hitchcock Wednesday. This week, after tracking down a Japanese DVD, I watched Stage Fright - arguably one of his most underrated movies (Scorsese take note - it lasts HALF the time your last movie did, and is about twice as complicated). Dietrich, Michael Wilding, Jane Wyman, Richard Todd, Alistair Sim, even Joyce Grenfell - tremendous cast, great story, great direction - superb.
