the reality is this : (I bet JK knows) most newspaper hacks are insular idiots. Most editors are boorish bullies 20 years behind the times. UK's tabloids are ghastly, ugly and un-democratic. Germany, France, Spain etc have similar tabloids with huge circulations but the people just don't react to petty sex sensations.

Why do UK politicians react or take notice of these gutter rags which the majority of Brits do not read?
