I thought it got better and better actually, as the superb scripts took over; less cute ad libbing and more hilariously witty but subtle lines, especially from Mum and Dad.

The Headmistress/Karen confrontation was one of the finest pieces of writing, acting and directing I've ever seen. Almost as certain to get a BAFTA as Cate Blanchett was to get the Oscar.

My friend Samson was round for dinner last night; he'd never seen it but found the final episode hilarious. He's gone off to watch last week's episode on iPlayer and then buy the box set.
