Its a common delusion of people in this country - thinking that they're related to the aristocracy.
Almost worse still is their compulsive desire to continually convey the delusion to the general public, never missing an opportunity.
Even if the opportunity is nonexistent - and the public abjectly apathetic.

Thomas Eyre - founder of Ushaw College
As Eyre wasn't born until nearly 200 years after Ushaw was founded in 1568, that's not possible.
Perhaps you'd better explain that to Durham University - I'm sure they will appreciate being corrected LOL (*) !!!!
www.dur.ac.uk/library/asc/localother/ush...loaderush/?collno=34
(*) You will see that the collection also contains documents pertaining to the Earl of Derwentwater and Lord Widdrington too.
I'm sure you will be equally annoyed that BOTH of these men (Charles, 5th Earl of Derwentwater and Lord Widdrington) married into the Eyre clan !
Time for yet another name change, perhaps?

Frostie would hate this - his own thread, and he's not being talked about on it!
Let's put that right, Pru !
Frostie was married to Carina FitzAlan-Howard, whose father was Miles Stapleton-FitzAlan-Howard,17th Duke of Norfolk.
His father was Bernard FitzAlan-Howard, 3rd Baron Howard of Glossop. You can follow that line back all the way to Henry Howard, 6th Duke of Norfolk, whose father (Henry Frederick Howard) was the 22nd Earl of Arundel. His brother was William Howard, 1st Viscount Stafford, whose daughter (Lady Anastacia Howard) married George Holman of Warkworth, Leics.
Their daughter (Mary Holman) married Thomas Eyre (of Eastwell, Leics and Hassop, Derbyshire).
Thomas Eyre's son Francis Eyre (who married Lady Mary, daughter of Charles Radcliffe, 5th Earl of Derwentwater) sold Warkworth (for £70,000 in the early 1700s !) and brought the stained glass from there back to Hassop when he inherited that (where it still is today).
So ... there you have it - David Frost and ITK are relatives !

Strange - the Eyre name is conspicuous by its absence.
The UC founder!
It helps if you get the link right !
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ushaw_College
If you scroll down to the list of former Presidents, Thomas Eyre is the FIRST listed !
Also ... among the alumni (clergy) is Eyre's nephew Charles Petre Eyre - Archbishop of Glasgow - (who was also one of the founding subscribers to the formation of Celtic Football Club !)

I am in the North East at the weekend looking at some original documents signed by my ancestor Thomas Eyre - founder of Ushaw College
Thomas Eyre was, indeed, the first president of Ushaw College - in England.
But, not the founder (as you stated) which, of course, is an entirely different matter.
Ushaw College was founded almost 200 years before he was born.

Yes, while Thomas Eyre was busy founding Ushaw College (to replace the closure of Douai in France, following the French Revolution), he also had 2 other brothers who became priests.
Yet another brother - Vincent Eyre - was left to look after the family finances - and even started his own bank ! (first customer - the Duke of Norfolk) - you can read about him on the Royal Bank of Scotland website -

Such achievers - the Eyres !

To stay on point, Thomas Eyre was never busy founding anything. When the English College, Douai eventually relocated to Ushaw Moor, it was called St Cuthbert's College.
It was later renamed Ushaw after its location - and the founder (and builder) was William Gibson, a bishop; see your own wikipedia article.
In 1794 - Thomas Eyre became the newly located college's first president, an administrative role. Other Eyre men becams students and alumni.
