TOPIC: Flaming Trussel trust!

Flaming Trussel trust! 11 Years, 4 Months ago
I was looking for a food bank for someone in dire straights and I couldn't find one in her area that hasn't been taken over by the Trussel trust, who require a referral (That you cant get until you have an appointment, and not possible at weekends)
They provide a "training package" for fifteen hundred quid.
Why do people need training for something the churches have been doing much better than Trussel for donkey's years?

Sounds like a good business model !

1. Start stories about "food bank explosion" (has anyone ever read a story like this that isn't linked to the Trussel Trust? NO !)

2. Get loads of donations (FREE !)

3. Sell start-up packages for £1500

4. Pocket the cash !

All food banks have always required referrals from DWP etc from my knowledge, maybe DWP should scrap the sanctions so people won't use food banks.

... and maybe "job seekers" should turn up on time for appointments (they have nothing better to do, do they?) and apply for jobs and then they wouldn't be "sanctioned" !!!

People have been sanctioned for the smallest thing i.e not writing to neatly on form, missed appointment even though they brought Dr notes etc with them to explain, not filling a box properly, when people have turned up job centre mark them absent happened to me a couple of times. Maybe ITK should go in to a job centre and how they operate.

The "official" referral is quite recent, but obviously health visitors and doctors would often ring the church/community centre/whatever.

There is no need for it in my opinion. There will always be some who jump at the chance of a free meal, and it is easy to spot them, but many more who are too embarrassed to ask for food, and even more so because of the referrals.

If you are going to give, do it freely without conditions, or don't bother at all!

id you see this from Lord Tebbit? www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2585426...d-Tebbit-claims.html

The truth is probably in the middle. Nobody can claim repeatedly because you are only allowed three goes, but I bet there is a lot who are claiming their share as a "right" whether they need it or not.

Lord Tebbit is a very wise man !

Only Trussel ask for referral and limit it to three visits - some churches have had the same 'clientele' for years coming back week after week.

Why pay for something if someone gives it away FREE ?

These people are SUPPOSED to be looking for work!

Such a slovenly attitude (to attention to detail) clearly shows they have no intention of getting a job
