TOPIC: Charity Relief... please!

Charity Relief... please! 11 Years, 4 Months ago
An evening of no stupid, awful, unfunny, arch shows put together to celebrate lack of talent but lots of great spirit to save people from misery.

Bad television - relentlessly.

I'd pay to be spared it.

I think that, if you must go ahead with these multiple charity TV events, then at least try hard to differentiate between them. That's surely basic marketing, as well as programming, isn't it? Yet Comic Relief and Sport Relief have barely anything to distinguish between them as far as TV events are concerned. True, they'll do the odd 'celeb crying a lot running or swimming' for Sport Relief, but the rest of the scheduling is just more aimless messing about and bad comedy. What was sporting, for example, about comedians taking part in a bake-off??? What's different between comedians on Pointless for Comic Relief and pretty much the same bunch on Pointless for Sport Relief? Why is an Only Fools sketch suited to Sport Relief rather than Comic Relief? If TV people can't be bothered to think about such basic stuff, why should anyone bother to watch? (Please don't bother, Andrew, we know your views, very, very, well.)

If people want to give to charity they will, Z list personalities doing pointless challenges for themselves, no doubt BBC have Team GB Olympians making a appearance, try making the so-called legacy alive by scrapping the barrel.

I deliberately give to other charities instead for spite.
I particularly despise people using charity as an excuse to get people to "sponsor" them doing something they enjoy.

Out of interest, Andrew, does ITV, which actually does rely indirectly on your money, ever do anything that arouses your anger? Anything at all? I know you're happy with where your tax goes except for the BBC - oh, those luvverly bombs! - but in terms of broadcasting ethics - any concerns at all? It just makes me curious - why does no tabloid paper ever monitor ITV's many, many, flaws and failures? Why does no BBC basher ever show the slightest concern at any commercial channel's appalling programmes, cynical behaviour and remorseless attempts to exploit the public? Anyone would think they had an agenda.

BBC are so left wing, they dominate the digital radio, PC crazy. Even if people don't watch BBC or listen to the their station you still need a licence to pay for their pay offs. Comic Relief are asking the public for money, when there are millionaires just standing there, UK gives billions to world aid to fund corruption.

ITV sell ad space and get sponsorships, C5 do get some good programmes for the U.S, Channel 4 don't really watch it, so I leave that for ITK.

You need to do some research. That's horribly simplistic.

I only support RNLI and Royal British Legion...............

Call me insensitive, but the relentless 'films' of deprivation and misfortune presented by two bit celebs leaves me more determined to not bother helping them........maybe my own sense of 'enormous well being' c.Blur, is one that responds in a way to define what I consider a good cause, not what Davina tells me is a good cause

Why wouldn't heroin addicts care about Africa? It was all a long time ago for her anyway.
