FGM - can someone please explain? 11 Years, 4 Months ago  
What is it and why? More important, why does everyone assume we know? I understand male circumcision. A boy's foreskin is cut off. For religious (and health and hygiene) reasons. Is female circumcision the same (similar)? Or does it damage women? And why is it done? Please explain and don't assume we know.
